Module 1 - Orientation to MS Project

Using an existing MS Project file, you become familiar with the look and feel of the software, you learn some key terminology and how to navigate around a project and the principles behind a project schedule.

Module 2 - Creating a new project

You learn how to do the groundwork for a new project schedule, so that the software's scheduling calculations will be correct. You enter identifying information about the project, set up the calendar, set up some key calculations rules and create a password -protected file.

Module 3 - Creating the schedule

You define the scope of the project by listing tasks in a Work Breakdown Structure. You determine the sequence of events by linking tasks in dependency relationships. You specify deadline by using constraint dates. You add detailed documentation to tasks using notes.

Module 4 - Editing

You learn how to copy, cut and paste, delete and undo in MS Project.

Module 5 - Resources

You create the project team and allocate people to tasks. You learn how to vary the amount of time and effort people spend on tasks, and strategies for dealing with work overloads.

Module 6 - Tracking Progress

You set the baseline for the project, and then enter progress data, comparing your actual progress against the original baseline.

Module 7 - Reporting

You learn how to use filters to manage the data that is published in a report. You will also learn how to lay out the data and charts for best results and how to customise headers and footers for documentation purposes.
